August 27, 2021 - Started out better than it ended. Definitely a big and muscular Lascombes with a deep, fleshy appearance and on the cusp of color change. Initially, it was floral, with earthy Marguax red fruit and flowers and the dryness was sensational. The finish pulled on the plate with lots of great expressions of the earthy floral feel of the bouquet. At this stage, if I would have stopped drinking it, or if this was merely a 3 oz. pour at a wine tasting, I would have rated it a 95. But as the wine relaxed, something happened that I have noticed with other bottles of Lascombes. It was as if the wine dropped its arms and gave up. The wine started losing focus and balance and became ever so slightly clumsy and fatigued.

This bottle brought on an epiphany. It seems like every time I have been totally blown away by a Lascombes, it was at a wine tasting and I can't recall a time when I enjoyed a whole bottle and craved another.

Drink or Hold, I cant call this.

8/28/21, 2:43 PM - You have so many options...The first hurdle is having the fortune to be able to do it, and the rest are choices! I was intrigued by this wine after reading a beautifully scripted article about wine in one of the wine publications about a decade ago. The description of the bouquet of the wine brought my imagination into a room with the bouquet of this wine mixed with the perfume of a beautiful woman (my wife) and leather chairs. To this date, I have not seen any tastings featuring this wine, and therefore, it remains a curious thing for me. But I must admit, that sometimes mysteries are far more sensual than reality itself. Either way, let me know how you do mate! Cheers to you!

8/28/21, 2:47 PM - You are talking 13K US +_Magnum IS the way to go on this. I see one regular bottle in the US for 5K....If the condition of the bottle is excellent (BN would be a miracle, so most likely VHS), then its a fair price.
