September 26, 2021 - Dave D's btl & my red of the night! If ever "classic" describes a Barolo, it does here. But not a brooding bruiser. Tonight btl found a way to celebrate its structure & classic arromas & flavor accents like rose petal, menthol, tar, licorice, mineral & herbs but marry all of that with inviting but measured raspberry & cherry fruit flavors. This is a hell of a Barolo in the making. If you have at least 3 its worth trying one now or in the next 2-3yrs. That said its best days are likely still 10yrs out when more tertiary notes bloom. Loved this tonight and happy Dave allowed me to hang onto all 4 of mine. 94+ Benchmark Barolo!

10/1/21, 2:11 AM - Wow, great note and very helpful as guidance on what to do with my 2 bottles! Thanks to your tip I will continue to sit on them, but this a recent flurry of notes on 2013 Baroli suggests it’s perhaps time to road test one or two of which I have more in the cellar. Grazie, et salute!

10/1/21, 11:28 AM - Thanks GL Rhone! I had been contemplating opening one of mine when, presto my buddy Dave, opened his last Sunday. I really enjoyed his btl but unsure how much air he gave it or would have included that too. My gut says he likely decanted it or gave it some air as it drank much better than anticipated at only 8yrs out. One or two others from my group may post their takes on this too soon.

We hosted an exchange student 20yrs ago from Lyon but sadly only trained through it so far. It looks like a fascinating city!

    Cheers
