November 7, 2021 - Method: blind against 9 other 2019 Spatlese; ice bucket cold (colder than I prefer); opened a few hours in advance
Nose: tangerine, light mineral
P: white cherry, minerality, passion fruit, light ginger; long finish of ginger, fresh herbs, light salt; medium sweetness; medium oily-ish body; medium+ acidity
Overall thoughts: This had it all when I tasted it - great concentration, great flavor profile with great fruit and spice, great mouthfeel, very good complexity, and great balance with nice acidity that creates a nice tension. I've a couple of great wines from Max Ferd. Richter before, but never considered them a top tier producer, which is why I was surprised to find that this was my #1 wine of the tasting! I guessed Fritz Haag or Schloss Lieser. Great wine!
Update: This wine improved a bit on day 2 and the ounce that was still in the bottle on day 7 was still going strong.5 people found this helpful 1,784 views
