Very deep ruby, some purple/pink to the rim
Clean, very pure nose of cassis and dark raspberry that becomes sweeter and redder with time. Soft, sandy spices, fragrant wood – all very attractive and mellow, if lacking in complexity. Notably fresh.
The palate shows some excellent concentration, the attack has some density but also great lift and a salty tang. Ripe, plush and smooth with very ripe tannins and good acidity. Rich cassis and red fruit, on the full side of medium bodied, rich but well-balanced and largely carries the 14.5% very well.
On return, the nose shows more sweet red raspberry, the palate is supple and creamy, silky really… it is the refinement of a wine like this that tells. It is expensive, but you can’t deny the finesse and precision.2 people found this helpful 3,477 views
