November 29, 2021 - A very nice expression of Gamay, something that not a lot of Cru Beaujolais accomplish in my opinion. Too often, Beaujolais winemakers think that to be taken seriously, their wine must be highly extracted and heavy in feel, which I believe is antithetical to the true identity of the varietal. Instead, this cuvée embraces the delicate prettiness of Gamay, emphasizing raspberry and floral notes on the nose. The palate is similar with a pleasant bit of earthiness thrown in, with just enough acidity to keep things lively. Very small amount of fine tannins are present, so I would expect this is a wine to be drink young. Medium finish. Nice QPR at $20.
