January 21, 2022 - This opaque ruby blend of 55% Merlot, 41% Cabernet Franc and 4% Malbec was Vinturi-decanted and serially tasted over the ensuing three hours. Beautifully aromatic and equally flavorful, it delivers a luscious package of blackcurrant and black cherry fruit that is flanked with licorice, exotic spices, graphite and cocoa. Medium-bodied, freshly acidic and with nicely integrated alcohol (listed as 14.5%), it deftly weaves its silky tannins and toasted oak into the milieu. The middle palate is layered and the finish is impressively long. This is an excellent example of how a great vintage in Bordeaux floats all boats, even the more humble châteaux. This is already drinkable when given an hour in decanter, and it should easily reach its fifteenth birthday with grace. Drink now-2033.
