January 21, 2022 - Pescaja, Soliter, Barbera d'Asti, 2020: Deep royal purple, with on the nose, smoked wood, raspberries, black cherries, cigar box, lavender, and new napa leather. Medium, perhaps medium to full-bodied, medium-plus intensity, with on the palate fleshy ripe raspberries, black cherries and blackberries, graphite, tobacco, medium-plus acidity, smoked wood, cured meat, with rich chili-flavored dark chocolate and plush ripe tannins on the long and velvety finish. Very nice, lots of potential here with more body and concentration than expected. Flattering and generous now, it will likely develop much more complexity over the coming decade. Best 2025-2031, likely longer. 14.5% Abv. 91-92
