January 30, 2022 - I have owned nearly 10 vintages of this cuvée over time and wonder whether a better wine value exists on the planet. The 2016 is just now entering its prime drinking window and is loaded with character, substance and pure quality. Vineyards that shoulder CdP, in the hands of a world class team. How it arrives in our local wine shop for $20 boggles my mind. In a great vintage, buy by the case and enjoy all winter with your stews, roasts, and chilis. Bravo!!

2/10/22, 6:41 AM - Very good comment. This wine is a great value w/a great story. When I first started to buy it years ago, Jaume family had it labelled as a CDR Villages. A few years ago they changed it to just a CDR. I queried them as to why and they wrote back that they wanted it to compete with Coudoulet de Beaucastel, which is also "just" a CDR. Have a case of '16 in the cellar that will sit until mid-2020s. In the interim, am buying later vintages at "bon prix" to drink as a go-to winter pour.

2/10/22, 7:55 AM - I’m also a fan of Coudoulet dating back decades. I’m told the vineyards are adjacent to one another yet lately, I must confess to prefer the Champauvins given the Grenache orientation. Can’t lose with either. Thanks for your note.

3/16/22, 8:23 PM - A few weeks ago I stumbled across a case of the '10 in my cellar and decided to open a bottle with a buddy to see if there was any life left. Holy smokes! Drinking great!
