February 4, 2022 - Any one enjoying eating wood? Well, then this is the wine for you. It is old, of course, and the color is deep amber. The nose is dominated by tobacco, some chocolate, a jammy type of cherry fruit, and tons of dry wood, coffee and vanilla. The first part of the tasting curve is sweet, tobacco and vanilla-like, but without much fruit. The finish and aftertaste is just plain wood; dry, almost chewy, and somewhat bitter. A small hint of fruit manages to fight it's way through on the end, but not enough to help this from being an old wood-monster that probably were out of balance already at birth. This version has always been over-oaked, and the aging has not done it any good. Interesting experiment, though.
