  February 9, 2022 - I haven't drunk much American wine because I've yet to find many that aren't too big and brash for my taste. But this is really rather nice. We're drinking it alongside a somewhat spicy lamb/bacon/tomato sauce on pasta and it's a very good pairing.
  
  Opened but didn't decant about an hour in advance. The nose is pure sweet dark red fruit, but the palate is better balanced than the nose would suggest: some well-integrated tannins and light acidity provide a good balance. The finish is clean and more-ish. This is still a fruit-forward wine, but the pairing with slightly spicy meat is working well.
  
  This was a gift, but I think it's about US$45 hereabouts and I might hunt down another bottle or two at that price.
