Community Tasting Note

February 28, 2009 - this is a phenomenal wine, one of the best i have ever had.

i don't have detailed notes because katy & i were at a fundraising event for her school. in spite of the best efforts of those who put this event together, i knew the food would be poor & the wine selection at the bar would be suspect at best, so i brought my own (wine, that is). next time i'll bring my own glasses as well. i'm dying to try this again out of a proper glass, but i only have 2 more bottles.

i just opened & poured at the table for katy & i. even in the pitiful little glasses it was impressive immediately on the nose & palate. i took my first sip & looked at katy to see what her reaction was going to be. her eyes lit up & she said "wow!" i only shared 1 glass of this with another of attendees & i gave katy a dirty look when she reached for this to pour for one of her friends switching from a kendall jackson sauvignon blanc. (don't worry, this lady got a very nice glass of 2006 switchback ridge merlot.) i actually poured myself a glass of the switchback merlot intending to go back to the ode to e later, but katy couldn't keep her hands off of the ode, so after 1 glass of very good merlot, i felt compelled to finish the bottle of ode to e.

i'm not sure how long this will go, but it is drinking at a fantastic level right now. it is luxuriously delicious & i swear i could still taste it after we finished the merlot. i didn't want to brush my teeth last night (but i did). i will give this 99 points & happily defend my position against all dissenting parties.
