  March 6, 2009 - Opened and decanted 1 hour before drinking, and the cork pretty much disintegrated at the top. Showing signs of age with a burnt orange rim - but still a lovely dark colour. Lovely on the nose - red fruits and quite herbaceous as well. Then after an hour or so darker fruits emerged and the herbaceous smell dissipated somewhat. Lovely and well balanced - smooth tannins and a long developing finish that goes from sweet fruity and chocolaty and ends up being quite woody. Overall a lovely wine - looking forward to finishing off the case over the next year as I think this will not age much beyond the present.
