May 11, 2022 - More on the mature side of the Briceland Pinot I've sampled, this also seemed to show more oak than others. I note a caramelization quality in the bouquet whereas the palate has darker Pinot fruit that is still reasonably fresh with an earthy, herbal quality. More complex than the younger offerings, but this is also less bright and zippy. I think it made a nice counterpoint to the usual Briceland PN experience. There's plenty of time left to enjoy these, as they are well made and balanced.

5/12/22, 6:41 AM - Thank you for your note. I am holding onto a 2012 Ronda's (along with a fair amount of Petit Verdot, but I really put that in another camp) as an aging experience of sorts. In some of my earlier trials, I've determined the wines do age well and the fruit shades darker; however, I am attracted to the insouciance of relative youth. C'est la vie.

5/12/22, 8:38 AM - Hi CMN, thanks for your comment. I'd probably save my cellar space for the PV, but I too have an older Rhonda's set aside for science as they say. The older I get, the more I've come to appreciate the more youthful qualities of well made wine. Those mature, tertiary, some say complex turns a wine takes over years/decades, often don't make up for what's lost (whether it be a sense of the carefree or the energies of youth).
I think I'd rather have the age placed in the vines that make the grapes than the wine in bottle. "Unfortunately," I have a cellar full of relics growing older every day, so to feed my desire for young blood, I tend to continue the purchasing. Oh, it's a vicious game.
