March 21, 2009 - Consumed about a week after trying the 97, this showed a lighter slightly drier profile than its deeper/riper cousin. Frangrant wine, giving up sour cherry, some earthy leather notes and a light floral component. Medium weight on the palate, ripe fruit but slightly out of balance towards an acidic edge, with clearly defined tannic focus. In a good place right now, but be sure to drink with food- we had with my bastardized version of bistecca fiorentina, which was the perfect foil for this wine.
