Community Tasting Note

August 20, 2022 - This is a huge wine. Perhaps I was mistaken in interpreting other notes as indicating elegance or enjoyability at this point in time. This is thick, jammy, alcoholy. Reminiscent of a "business dinner" napa cab, overextracted, overripe. Maybe I got an off bottle. There is 0 chance of guessing Bordeaux. In time, maybe this comes together into something harmonious. Based on my experience today, that day is years off. I will taste tomorrow for improvement. Second day -- the wine has thinned quite a bit. Quite hot with noticeable tannins. A subtle touch of fruit. Still somewhat jammy.

8/20/22, 6:53 PM - It seems to have 2 groups of people for this wine.
Group 1 says non Napa like (which I fall in to)
Group 2 says napa like.
I could only guess it is matter of individual taste because I cant imagine DdC made 2 types of wine under the same label. -

That is a fabulous descriptor and I can totally get what you are trying to convey! -

I also fell into camp 1 when I tasted blind - it was super elegant and red fruited, and zero chance I would ever guess Napa. I do wonder if there was a blending gaffe, with two very distinct blends of riper and less ripe parcels getting bottled.

10/12/22, 1:04 PM - I have a different take, opulence v substance. This is an opulent wine, decidedly so. It features excellent, but not exceptional, substance. Opulence can be a marker of quality, if the substance matches it. Otherwise, opulence can create a smoke and mirrors effect. Cheers!
