Paired with fresh king.
It was a good pairing. The richness of the fish paired well with richness of the wine.
This was much closer to the first bottle I opened than the second.
Well made, has the viscous texture I expected from a Pinot Blanc. Good acidity
Would buy again

Pnp. Showing great. Classic brunello and in a good place

2022 Domaine Guy Mousset Cotes Du Rhones 750mL

Bought on a whim for being on sale at a local wine shop. Mistake. I don't think I even want to cook with it.

On the nose - overripe blueberry, petroleum, laundry detergent.

Taste - overripe to the point of being spoiled blue fruit. Funk. Mid palate brings out smokey flavors. Gravel, tar.

Not for me. Gonna dump the rest of the bottle.

Consistent with the other comments, I found this very beer like - hoppy on the nose with bitter orange and generic fruit on the tongue. While it was pleasant, it is missing the typical floral and lychee notes I would have expected from other vintages of this wine and gewürztraminer in general.

Quite interesting to have it side by side with the Charmes. They could not be more different. Ruby-garnet color. Very fruit forward with sweet red fruit, herbs and spice. Plush and inviting on the palate, with the fruit dominating all the way through the long finish. Very hedonistic.

Notes from memory. Still mostly closed, but coaxed a few dark rhubarb and strawberry notes out of this after a few hours of air. Decant and pair with food if you drink it now. Should be best 2026-2034. Technical score: 92. Enjoyment score: 90.

Soft, fruity, dry, low-tannin and low-acid wine. Clearly put through carbonic maceration. Pleasant enough, but not my preferred style. Drank with tomato/mushroom sauced tortellini and Italian sausage.

Ruby-garnet color. Red fruit, herbs, underbrush, game on the palate. Slight tannic edge on the long finish. Great balance between the herbal and the fruit tones. Very Gevrey in character. Excellent.

The tiniest hint of smoke does not mar the wine but overall just: VERY good. A big bowl of red cherries with some earth and baking spices. Nice texture and length. I'm told smoke just gets more and more obvious with age, so why wait?!?

A little surprising. 8 years old and still tannic and bright fruit. Tasted of underripe red fruits, some minerality, a bit of cinnamon. Possibly leave it to sit and mellow for a few more years. Paired with grilled flank steak with chimichurri.

Great color. Ripe red fruit, wild berries, forest moss. Full body, good acidity, a bit of herbal astringency on the finish. Great showing for this wine after all this time.

A rather disappointing Cremant. It's fresh and has a decent texture but feels off-balance and flimsy on acidity.

Much more charming tonight. The last bottle must have been a little cooked or off somehow.

Same tastes but they are all more alive. It still "feels" low acid for a riesling, but all the necessary verve is there, so it just makes for a nice change-up in the cellar.

Slight kiss of honeyed sweetness as well, only adds to the charm.

What a lovely find. Purchased a case for $65 a bottle and boy has this paid dividends! The first bottle was light Burgundy like with a Sangiovese foundation. Frankly, ethereal like a ballerina tip toeing and sprinkling light cherry, leather and raspberry flavors. So wonderful and for the price and absolute gem. This will easily go another 20 years, truly amazing to experience a Chianti of this age and how young and fresh this is still drinking.

Quite a bit of reduction on the nose. This needed to aerate a bit to open up. Nose of ripe lemon and ripe stone fruit. Pretty fruit on the palate, backed by crushed rocks salinity. Good acid and long finish.

This has come a LONG way since my 2020 and 2021 experience. To be fair, I probably should have given it a 91-92 then. But tonight this was excellent. Deep and powerful, yet elegant and balanced. The tannins have softened and will continue to do so in the coming years and the imbalance of previous tastings has settled into a sweet harmony of red fruit, tar, wood, leather and everything good one can expect from a great Brunello. This has really improved since those earlier tastings and I think it has finally reached its drinking window. Once again, Salvioni is at the top of my Tuscan list. Superb.

2022 Brick House Select Ribbon ridge Pinot noir 750mL 13% ABV

Located nearby some of my favorite Oregon Pinot noirs on ribbon ridge, it was about time to try brick house. A wine on my to try list for a while.

With Chinese hot pot.

Fresh fruit, cherry and pomegranate. Well integrated, even at young age. Easily pulled you back for more and bottle went quickly at the table. 92/100

From a double magnum decanted into 4 750ml bottles. Even better than the first bottle. Nose of barnyard, damp earth, roasted coffee grounds, sweet and sour fruit, and floral aged Pinot Noir, same on the palate, very tasty, mouth filling fruit, age really helped here as the bouquet gave way to the palate with a long, long, lovely flavorful finish and aftertaste.

PnP and drank over dinner. For the first 30 min balsamic notes taped down everything except a two minute finish with black olives.

After 30 min, this exploded into an awesome wine. Damp forest floor, dried red fruits, dried blue fruits, cardamom. Excellent balance of fruit and secondary notes. This is at peak for my palate and rivaled my last bottle for excellence in drinking experience. Chalky tannins appeared as it warmed so proper temps when drinking are important.

Sadly my last bottle, no regrets in opening though.

Nose of dark fruit, spring flowers and allspice, same on the palate, medium body, tasty, touch simple, opened the second and third nights, score went from 86 to 88 points, fairly fruit forward, good acid, medium finish, nice aftertaste, enjoy the next 3 years, $10 makes for great QPR here.

Decided to try this early with my somm buddy. Great bottle of wine. I liked Leve's notes. I'll hold my remaining bottles until 2026+. You can still find this out there for $63. Also, super hopeful the Beausejour Duffau is this elevated. Cheers.

Clear light lemon color. Whiff of reduction on the nose, but with air reveal aromas of ripe lemon, yellow apple, hints of stone fruits. The palate is opulent, with the expansive fruit, balanced by a searing mineral structure. This wine shows layers upon layers of complexity. Long finish. Excellent.

Light red out of the bottle with a thin looking pour. Quiet nose, dark cherry and black earth, followed by unwelcome alcoholic heat. Medium acidity and surprisingly chewy tannins. One dimensional dark fruited palate, saved only by interest from a rustic texture. I think this is my first Pais and it's not bad, but it's also not particularly good.

Light yellow. This is quite restrained initially and needed a bit of air to show itself. The nose shows lemon, white flowers and crushed rocks. The palate is tart and tense, with medium density, and great complexity. Long finish. This is quintessential withe burgundy, classy and refined. Delicious.

Drinking beautifully. Brilliant nose that was really similar to an aged white burg. However it was full of apple, white peach, light almond, some light sweetness as well. Just lightly aged notes, no strong browning fruit, some light bitterness for interest and really good acidity. Very enjoyable. A well stored bottle should probably last another 10 yrs.

Wild strawberry preserves—kinda just a one-note wine, but it’s lovely. Seems to be lacking acidity and doesn’t have the hallmark earthy spices or complexity Ribbon Ridge is known for.

Nice Corsican character. After a 60 minute decant the rough edges had smoothed and this seemed to be squarely in it's drinking window. Dark red fruit, with mild herbaceous (maquis?) character. Lacking complexity and not terribly aromatic, but worked well with some rich pasta dishes (lobster arrabiata, octopus in bone marrow red wine sauce).

Still a bit closed but had no problem enjoying it. I believe it beautifully expresses the terror of Fixin in an elegant way, a bit of untamed rustic charm with well-judged balance. Instead of being an insignificant cousin to its neighbor GC, it shows the character that could be welcomed by Burgundy followers. Deep purple color, and a bit heavier fruit profile but balanced with subtle tannins and fresh acidity.

All the hyper-concentration of flavor and power of a young Napa cab, but for $20. Demands food, if only to soften it some, but much to love here for tannin chasers.

Nose shows rich blackberry, plum sauce, cassis, dark chocolate, molasses, eucalyptus, slate and some vanilla off the oak.

No getting around it — even with roughly seven years of age, this is still true to Madiran tannat, and punches like a day old barrel-sample, with waves of massive, green tannins coating the palate. Good acidity provides some balance but the surfeit of almost masochistic astringency still is certain to be polarizing.

A good example here though, and made better by the price. Drink now if, like me, you enjoy a bitter meal-in-a-glass. Otherwise, hold for a billion years.

Another bottle that was definitely showing more advanced than it should, particularly from 2006 and this ageworthy Cru. Slightly oxidative, there are still nice aromatics of dark and red berries, some floral notes, tar, but also notes of graphite, but then all a little impaired by the advanced notes of oxidation. Good structure and length, but hard to look past the advanced stage of the wine.

Candied raspberry, fruit leather and vanilla chocolate. Decent acidic lift to keep everything drinkable. This has all the marks of a solid cabernet. Fairly solid at the price point.

A contrast of bright red fruit and dark spices. Fresh cherries, raspberries and strawberry contrast with clove, charcoal sea salt and black caraway seeds. A persistent minerality keeps the wine steadily flowing through your mouth even right after opening. A long finish exhibits a unique, rich cedar of the Slavonian oak.

A beautiful wine which I wish I had more opportunity to spend time with.

This was showing really nicely. Healthy ruby color with some lightening up. Beautifully pure, with notes of sweet red cherries, some menthol, also floral notes, cinnamon, crushed herbs and some pipe tobacco, as well as some minerality. It‘s medium+ bodied, with very good persistence, this is showing medium tannin that is superbly silky (as it always is the case with Burlotto), there is also nice medium-high acidity providing tension and freshness. Good length, too. A very good Cannubi and a great representation of the house-style. While I sometimes feel a little distracted by the whole cluster in the Monvigliero, this seems „more Barolo“. Excellent showing.
