Introduction

Whites:

2005 VINCENT GIRARDIN PULIGNY MONTRACHET LES PUCELLES- delightful; a little toasty, light butttery and salty with a lot of citrus and some apple/ cinnamon; great start to this luncheon

1998 JOBARD MEURSAULT- GENEVRIERES- color of brownish yellow, notes of a little carmel and sherry all suggesting oxidized; some minerals, tart and dry; better later with some of it blowing off.

Reds:

1995 PAOLO SCAVINO BRIC del FLASC BAROLO- a lot of power here; major blueberry and blackberry fruit in a youthful and vibrant context; loved it from start to finish.

1999 PAOLO SCAVINO CNNUBI BAROLO- another youthful and electric wine with a little earthiness from its deep, dark color and wonderful spicy, black fruit forwardness; very tannic on the finish; not yet evolved, but just wait, say 5-10 years.

1998 SEGEHESIO LA VILLA BAROLO- really fruit forward from the outset, this is delicious, silky smooth and wonderfully balanced; it got better and better.

2004 G.D. VEDRA BRICCO DELLE VIOLI BAROLO- very young, tart fruit and way to early to drink; not sure where this is headed.

2005 PIO CESARE BAROLO- for $45 at the local Costco, this is a clear winner for QPR and beyond; lots of wild berries and cherries dominate from the nose on through; very approachable now; certainly more one dimensional than those before.

2004 SILVIO GRASSO GIACHINI BAROLO- some earthy, dried black fruit notes, very dry, tannic and yet overall, decent wine; this needs a lot of time and tracking as to where it move on to.

Desert:

2001 RECIOTO BUSSOLA della VALPOLOCELLA "TB"- what a turn on for me; somehow I`ve missed this experience over the years and am delighted to have had it yesterday; in more of an Amorone style, this is full of plums and blueberries with a little maple syrup in the nose moving into big candied raspberry/ cherry flavors; a great finish to a Friday lunch.
