Flight 1 (11 notes)

White
2009 Tamaya Sauvignon Blanc Chile, Limarí Valley
84 points
Nice bright, forward nose. Simple and fruit forward, but then boring. Simple but ok.
White
2008 Tamaya Chardonnay Chile, Limarí Valley
85 points
Bright, some sweetness, ok.
Red
2008 Tamaya Cabernet Sauvignon Chile, Limarí Valley
84 points
Fruit forward. Nice fruit. Ok. Some tannins. Fine. 84-85
Red
2008 Tamaya Merlot Chile, Limarí Valley
85 points
Bright red fruit. Simple and easy going.
Red
2008 Tamaya Carménère Chile, Limarí Valley
85 points
Medium bodied. Ok. Touch of spice. Fine.
White
2006 Bodega Casa Montes Don Baltazar Argentina, San Juan
82 points
This is a Chardonnay/Viognier blend. The nose is that of those horrible Chardonnay's that taste like wood dipped in syrupy fruit, and then packaged in an unwashed cream of corn can. There is some Viognier flavors on the palate, but everything is too fruity, too much, and just not enjoyable. 82
Red
2004 Bodega Casa Montes Merlot Don Baltazar Argentina, San Juan
85 points
Funky nose. Red fruits. Ok. Maybe some green tannins. 85-86
Red
2004 Bodega Casa Montes Syrah Don Baltazar Argentina, San Juan
84 points
Doesn't taste like Syrah. I think all of the Syrah characters of this wine have been blown away by the heat and over extraction. I guess it tastes ok.
Red
2006 Bodega Casa Montes Malbec Don Baltazar Reserva Argentina, San Juan
85 points
Nice rich fruit. That's about it. Not much for structure, and not in the least concerned about anything other then ripe Malbec fruit.
Red
2008 Villa Mercedes Cabernet Sauvignon Ampakama Argentina, San Juan
84 points
Good fruit. Simple, but fine for the price.
Red
2008 Villa Mercedes Syrah Ampakama Argentina, San Juan
85 points
A little funk here. Fine.
