Introduction
Nice Chile and Argentina wines for a good price.
Flight 1 (9 notes)
White
2008 Errazuriz Sauvignon Blanc Single Vineyard
85 points
Floral, grapefruit, and apple. Nothing exciting with a short finish.
White
2007 Errazuriz Chardonnay Wild Ferment
89 points
Really nice offering. Rich with lemon, orange peel, mineral and floral. A touch of oak and the wine was fermented for 4 months in oak. Solid effort and the price is right. This showed a lot better than the last time I sampled it.
Red
2008 Errazuriz Carménère Single Vineyard
89 points
Another solid showing for this wine with raspberry, dried herbs, coffee and blackberries. Good acidity and concentration.
Red
2007 Errazuriz Cabernet Sauvignon Single Vineyard Don Maximiano Estate
89 points
Spice, cherry, light oak and coffee. Balanced wine and bright fruit shines on the palate and finish.
Red
2007 Errazuriz Syrah Max Reserva
90 points
Black cherry, coffee, spice, floral and minerals. Jammy wine with nice balance. Good concentration and a medium finish.
Red
2008 Finca Decero Malbec Remolinos Vineyard
91 points
One of the best Malbecs on the market for under $20. Vibrant with cedar, cherry, cranberry, raspberry and spice. Balanced wine and medium finish.
Red
2007 Finca Decero Cabernet Sauvignon Remolinos Vineyard
90 points
Clean wine with cherry, coffee, cranberry, rapsberry, oak and minerals. There is a nice dust quality on the palate. Medium finish.
Red
2007 Finca Decero Petit Verdot Remolinos Vineyard
90 points
This wine is tight and needs some time to show its stuff. I sampled the end of the bottle later and it was better wtih cherry, floral, spice, coffee and tannic. Medium finish and this wine needs at least 5 years in the cellar.
Red
2007 Finca Decero Amano Remolinos Vineyard
91 points
A blend of 64% Malbec, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Petite Verdot and 2% Tannat. Young right now and needs cellaring. Blueberries, chocolate, minerals, cherry, and spice. 100% French oak and concentrated finish.
Closing
I really enjoyed the Decero Malbec for the price point and really not a bad wine in the bunch.
