Flight 1 - Mesculin salad topped with fried Goat Cheese and served with Crab Cakes (1 note)

Oh, boy, did the Domaine de Bel Air and the goat cheese combo make my mouth happy.

9/22/10: This is so good. Is 92 points too high? Maybe, but this simply tastes so good, who needs something amazingly complex when you have something that is so tasty you just want more. I'm sticking with 92.

7/16/10: Wow, for those of you who follow Jon Rimmerman of Garagiste fame, his characterization of the '09 vintage in the Loire is spot on. I've always been a fan of this wine, but the '09 really hits it out of the park. This wine is always super clean, very bright, and almost piercing in its focus. But in this vintage, there is an extra layer, and fullness to the wine, yet it's even racier then ever, so it never seems flabby or fat. It starts with soaring citrus aromatics. Then comes the full throttle palate. But it's not like it's made over the top, or with sweetness, it's just that intense. Really amazing stuff, especially for the $20 price tag. 92

Flight 2 - Marinated Rib Eye with Mushroom and Roasted Red Pepper Risotto (1 note)

This match was also amazing.

This is a very nice Amarone. Does a great job of staying in the middle. It shows a richness but isn't over done. Despite all that richness and the high alcohol, this is really well balanced.
