Decanted 1 1/2 hours. Deep, young color with a clear rim. Wonderful nose of sandalwood, sweet spice, cola and leather. Sweet, bright fruit on entry with the sandalwood carrying through in the flavor. The mid palate is very bright, juicy and rich with great texture. It finishes with power and length. This is a classic MEV Pinot that is just hitting its stride. Drink now through 2020.

Decanted 2 hours. Deeply colored right to the rim. Riper and more forward than the last night's 2001, this also shows the sandalwood with more sweet spice and darker fruit aromas. Sweet upfront flavors of black cherry, plum and spice are balanced by good acidity. Softly sweet in the finish, this is showing great right now. A little power sneaks in at the end. Drink now through 2014.

Decanted for 2 hours. (There was quite a bit of fine sediment even though the bottle had been standing for a week prior to decanting.) Savory nose of wood spice, cranberries, brambles and forest floor. Juicy and deep on the palate with good power and balance. Black fruit flavors are intense but still a bit primary. Tannins are in check. A little heat pokes through. Balanced, powerful and full bodied, a few more years in the cellar are recommended. Drink 2012-2018.
