Served with (1) Foie Gras Torchon on Crumpets, (2) Chilled Avocado Cucumber Buttermilk Soup, and finally a sublime (3) Thai Marinated Lobster

White

mushroom earthy nose, with faint orange rind. Not much fruit on the palate - not for everyone. Really enjoyed the minerality, stone elements to the palate and the lingering lemon rind acidity. very nice complement to the app.'s that were circling today and very food friendly.

Flight 2 (1 note)

GREAT (1) Amuse Bouche of Lime marinated Sea Bream served on marinated Yellow Beets and creme fraiche and
(2) Sea Scallop with Celery root-Garlic puree, mushroom froth and Veal Jus.

Red
2003 Williams Selyem Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast
89 points
Floral nose with some red fruits. Light to Med Bodied, sour cherry and crisp acidity that had a grapefruit quality. Lingering finish that later in the tasting turned a little buttery. Great lunch / warm weather / food friendly Pinot. 89-90

Flight 3 (1 note)

Sweetbread and Black Trumpet Gnocchi, Madeira Sauce

Red
1999 Williams Selyem Pinot Noir Ferrington Vineyard USA, California, North Coast, Anderson Valley
90 points
Really skunky and funky on the nose intially. and spritzy on the palate but blew off in 15-20 minutes. Nose turned feminine and pretty with a little pinot funk. black cherries and cranberries on the med bodied palate. Also possesing noticeable acidity and an interesting minerality. Paired well with the food.

Flight 4 (1 note)

Rack of Lamb with Crispy Grits Cake, Hen of the Woods and Salsify, Syrah Sauce

Red
1998 Williams Selyem Pinot Noir Allen Vineyard USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley
92 points
On the nose this had Bigger richer fruit than those that proceeded it. Ripe cherries, Rasberries, also some asian spice. Picking up some leathery elements as well. Followed through to the palate...Bigger and more lush, but maintains the finesse that was so evident today in the WS pinots. Almost silky on the palate but with the signature acidity present. This wine also provided the strongest finish, a really tasty long ending with a wonderful strawberries... 92-3

Flight 5 (1 note)

Rhubarb Soup, Angel Food Cake, Lemon Thyme Sabayon and Strawberries

White - Sweet/Dessert
2002 Grgich Hills Violetta Late Harvest USA, California, Napa Valley
89 points
Rich honey and orange blossoms on the nose. Really rich and unctious on the palate, especially in the middle where the honey, peach preserves and strawberry jam all come together. towards the end some acidity lightens things up and then a nutty, almond (slightly bitter) wave finishes things up. 89+
