Introduction

all bottles are being tasted blind and only after guesses by the attendants - the wine is revealed.

Flight 1 (4 notes)

Red
1995 Clos des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
92 points
blind tasting;
light red-brown color, brown rim;
wonderful secondary & tertiary aromas of leather & spices;
tannic, balanced, still very enjoyable inspite that the wine is over its peak; long after-taste, a real pleasure.
Red
2002 Mas Martinet Priorat Clos Martinet Spain, Catalunya, Priorat
91 points
blind tasting;
red-purple color;
wonderful leathery smoky aroma of a mature wine, more Riojan than Priorat!;
full-bodied, tannic, harmonious, long after-taste - a good surprise.
Red
2003 Feudi di San Gregorio Taurasi Italy, Campania, Taurasi DOCG
flawed
strong stinky smell that didn't leave the wine; also unpleasant taste; seems a clear case of TCA.
Red
1996 Château Calon-Ségur France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Estèphe
90 points
Blind tasting; bottle was opened just before the tasting;
light red-brown color with brown rim;
Strong green herbs aroma that softened a bit during 30 min - this wine require a pre-opening of few hours; very tannic & green in taste; a classical Saint Estephe.

Closing

Enjoyable wines that require pre-opening.
