Introduction

2006 Domaine Drouhin Arthur

A slight hint of oxidation on opening. Blew off quickly. Lovely golden color; wine is starting to caramelize. Complex layered fruit, moderate creamy oak. Very smooth. Age has been kind to this bottle. Just shy of a delicious rating. 92

Flight 1 (0 notes)

2005 Domaine Thomas-Moillard Beaune 1er Cru Grèves (France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Beaune 1er Cru) Ruby purple color with some bricking. Mild barnyard nose. Compared to the Oregon Pinots this had a stronger mid palate, less fruit predominance, way less aromatic. Ei: "peppery". I liked this wine better than everyone else. Peppery, mineral core 90

2008 Chehalem Pinot Noir Ridgecrest RR (USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Ribbon Ridge) (note: this is the special Chehalem bottling that Gail and I discovered, not the Chehalem Ribbon Ridge regular bottling. Label is just a red circle with 2 capital R's back to back). Fantastic nose. Deep reddish purple.Black cherry, a little pepper. Much smoother than the Beaune, more fruit forward, better finish, but less mid-palate complexity. 91

2008 Domaine Drouhin Oregon Pinot Noir (USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley) Excellent nose, good fruit, great balance and finish. A very good wine. 90+

2008 Laura Volkman Pinot Noir Jacob Estate Chehalem Mountains (USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Chehalem Mountains) Good nose. Excellent mouthfeel. Savory, dates, a little tar, great residual "sugar" and fruit. A darker, more brooding wiine than the other 08's. I preferred to the RR 92
