Flight 1 - I. Blind warm up whites (4 notes)

White
2008 Domaine de la Pépière Muscadet de Sèvre-et-Maine sur lie France, Loire Valley, Pays Nantais, Muscadet de Sèvre-et-Maine sur lie
88 points
Pale straw color with aromas of orchard fruit and florals with a subtle waxy quality. Rich texture, with apple and tart white fruit flavors. Has a dirty quality; develops an anise note with air.
White
2008 Roger Moreux Sancerre Chavignol Les Bouffants France, Loire Valley, Upper Loire, Sancerre
90 points
Pale color with notes of gooseberry, cat urine and grass. Bright acidity, with nice fruit and grassy notes. Obviously Sauv Blanc, not sure of its origin. Was very surprised to see this was Sancerre.
White
2008 Château de Loriere Muscadet-Côtes de Grandlieu sur lie France, Loire Valley, Pays Nantais, Muscadet-Côtes de Grandlieu sur lie
87 points
Straw color. Notes of tropical fruit and apple, mango and papaya. Tropical fruit tones follow through on the palate, with a rich texture. Melon notes on the finish. I thought perhaps we had a Savennières.
White

88 points
Yellow color. Notes of apple, smoke and banana. Flavors of vaniila, toasty oak and apple.

Red
2004 Flowers Pinot Noir Sea View Ridge USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast

88 points
Crimson color. Notes of red currant, iodine, herbs and green tobacco. Flavors of red fruit and plum, with a nice herbal undertone. Lacks weight on the midpalate and falls short on the finish; dusty tannin. Guessed left bank Bordeaux.
Red
2004 Flowers Pinot Noir Moon Select USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast
91 points
Ruby color. Aromas of cherry, nutmeg, white pepper and cinnamon with a subtle forest floor/dried leaf quality. Medium-bodied, with flavors of red fruit, cherries, pepper and a nice finish. Guessed OR Pinot.
