Introduction

I stopped in for this quick tasting. I couldn't resist since i was headed that way and it is a rare to see such a focused tasting from a region I am a fan of. I was surprised to see the Luneau-Papin still around at such a low price. I was in a couple months ago and got some. The Louvetrie was a nice surprise for me. The pourer said there is some buzz about the producer and it did not disappoint. Not real typical for the region but a terrific wine.

Flight 1 (5 notes)

White
2009 Domaine Luneau-Papin Muscadet de Sèvre-et-Maine sur lie "L" d’Or France, Loire Valley, Pays Nantais, Muscadet de Sèvre-et-Maine sur lie
Soft lemon nose with a strong sense of sea water. Good concentration and length. Lingers around the palate. Very nice once again.
White
2009 Domaine du Haut Bourg Muscadet-Côtes de Grandlieu sur lie France, Loire Valley, Pays Nantais, Muscadet-Côtes de Grandlieu sur lie
Sharp nose with somewhat ripe fruit. Lean and light on the concentration. Saline and ripe fruit. There is adequate acidity but this still seems to drop off towards the finish.
White
2010 Chéreau-Carré Muscadet de Sèvre-et-Maine sur lie Chateau l'Oiseliniere de la Ramee France, Loire Valley, Pays Nantais, Muscadet de Sèvre-et-Maine sur lie
Chablis like nose with fresh steely lemon and mineral notes. Clean and even yet somewhat muddled. Mineral notes but watery acids. A mixed bag but I would like to try more from this producer.
White
2010 Domaine de la Louvetrie (Landron & Fils) Muscadet de Sèvre-et-Maine sur lie France, Loire Valley, Pays Nantais, Muscadet de Sèvre-et-Maine sur lie
This was unique in the realm of Muscadet. Expressive nose with notes of pineapple and rainy pavement. There is a bitter sense towards the finish like you might find on wines with extended skin contact but it is not distracting. Clean with nice complexity. Very lively at the finish. A singular Muscadet and a very good one.
White
2009 André-Michel Brégeon Muscadet de Sèvre-et-Maine sur lie France, Loire Valley, Pays Nantais, Muscadet de Sèvre-et-Maine sur lie
This looks very weighty in the glass and carries some color. Wooly or lanolin nose almost like it was aged. Concentrated fruit but reserved in expression. Notes of mineral and bitter acids. Good length. Almost juicy. In the context of Muscadet this was a bit hard to read. I wish the fruit were brighter but I am wondering if this is built more for aging. Would like to try it from a cooler year.
