Alot going on here. Rich, dark berry up front with underlying sous bois, earth, abit of leather, maybe some licorice, spice and white pepper on the long finish. All of this is framed in subtle, non-obtrusive oak. This is a very nice bottle of wine that needed a couple of hours in the decanter to open but would probably benefit more from a couple more years in the bottle.

2010 Kosta Browne Chardonnay One Sixteen USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley

Abit overoaked for my tastes. Pear and green apple, maybe some quince, some minerally undertones, and just enough acidity to keep it from being overly flabby. Nice, if big Cali chards are to your liking. Not sure it warrants the price tag.

Red and blue fruit framed in a fair amount of oak with some earth and spice. The finish was abit clipped tonight, but, as usual, another very enjoyable bottle of Kosta Browne.
