Flight 1 (5 notes)

Red
2009 Les Pagodes de Cos France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Estèphe
Popped and poured. Color garnet with crimson edges. Nose starts with pencil shavings and ripe dark fruit with swirling maybe some olive nuances. On palate this has great balance between structure and fruit. Finish long and polished. Delicious now and should evolve favorably. My favorite of the night
Red
2009 Château Ducru-Beaucaillou Croix de Beaucaillou France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien
Popped and poured. Color dark garnet. Nose classic young Bordeaux open for business. On palate this is rich and full with medium finish. Tannins show themselves on finish but are mostly sweet with hint of stem at very end. Nice wine.
Red
2009 Château Lafon-Rochet France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Estèphe
Color dark garnet. Nose quite tight. With considerable swirling I got cherries and a whiff of bandaid. On palate this had overt tannin kicking off the medium length medium weight finish.
Red
2009 Château Belgrave France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Haut-Médoc
Popped and poured. Color garnet with crimson edge. Nose very tight dark fruit with spice and with air coconut and vanilla. Palate shows good fruit but mid body and finish are a bit hollow. Ok
Red
2009 Château La Clare France, Bordeaux, Médoc
Popped and poured. Garnet color w purplish edges. Nose pops from glass showing cab and dose of cab franc? A whiff of licorice and smoke and meat. On palate this has fruity entry with light somewhat hollow body leading into med long finish w substantial tannin.

Closing

Impressed by the extraction in all of these wines. Despite the price range no clinkers.
