2009 Mark Haisma Gevrey-Chambertin La Croix des Champs France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin
Nose much tighter compared to when I last tasted it: closing down? Chewy but decent fruit and ripe tannins. Needs another year at least. 2013+

2010 Mark Haisma Cornas Les Combes France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Cornas
Cask sample. Quite a savoury nose but not the wild, animal-y character of the 2009; this is more black olive/tapenade. A pretty dense core of dark fruit. Very concentrated but has the acidity to match. Seems a little forward though and not sure how much potential there is for development? Seems slightly disappointing after last year but I've bought some bottles and will very happily be proved wrong.

2010 Mark Haisma Bonnes Mares France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Bonnes Mares Grand Cru
Barrel sample. Such depth to the nose: almost like you’re taking a lung-full direct from a recently emptied barrel! There's some cherry but also a little vanilla and toasty oak. No oak on the palate though, just layer after layer of dark cherry and then a streak of sappy, stemmy savouriness right at the end. Masses of tannin but not a rough edge in sight. Fantastic. 2016+

Barrel sample. Nose a little muted in comparison with the Bourgogne and strawberry rather than cherry aromas. Quite a bit of structure but very fine, silky tannins. Lovely balance. This could be his best Gevrey yet. 2014+

2010 Mark Haisma Pinot Noir Bourgogne France, Burgundy, Bourgogne
Barrel sample. Lovely nose: pure cherry with herbal hints. Very pure palate with a deceptive amount of grip. Gorgeous sweet cherry fruit. And the herby, savoury notes appear again at the finish. More complexity than the '09 and should prove a versatile food match. 2013+
White
2010 Mark Haisma Saint-Romain Les Jarrons Blanc France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Saint-Romain
Barrel sample. Steely, sherbert-y nose. Lots of citrus and green apple fruit. Oak is barely noticeable but it's hard to judge this so soon after malolactic fermentation; tense and tightly coiled but seems to be coming together. Lots of potential, I think.
