************
Amy Wessleman and her husband/partner David Autrey make classic Burgundian styled Oregon Pinot Noir with elegance, grace and equity. With their early training spent in Burgundy as well as additional apprenticeships working for some of the most respected Oregon PN pioneers, their wines truly stand out among many higher end Oregon Pinot Noirs.
Flight 1 (4 notes)
Pear, newly cut grass, wet slate and apple fragrances. Plenty of beaming acidity, tart pear and crisp apple on the tongue. Light, but glowing with character, balance and an exquisite pureness.
Closing
Amy provided us with a tour of the winery/barrel room including some of the 2012 wines in barrel along with the bottled selections during the tasting.
2012 Chardonnay x2 separate barrels (neutral oak):
One with native wild yeast showing brightness, purity of fruit and tart flavors. The other with added purchased yeast which revealed vanilla, pears and was more subtle.
2012 Abbey Ridge PN: Still undergoing ML.
Still undergoing ML. Big and ripe, already showing signs of depth.
2012 Oracle PN: Undergoing ML.
Minty and spiced. Fruit is in a funky (ML) stage, but this was clean and offering early indications of backbone qualities
