Flight 1 (2 notes)

White
1999 Maison Leroy Meursault 1er Cru Les Genevrières France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
94 points
Served double blind alongside Lafon 1999 Perrieres. Ullage approx 2+ cm. Floral and spice-driven start with some hazelnut hints, lots of ripe, fat fruit. Great flavors show ripe apple along with some stone fruit hints, lots of concentration and subtlety. I thought this 1999 from the start, given its power and faint, emerging earthy hints. Great now, this wine will most likely hold well for a decade+ going forward.
White
1999 Domaine des Comtes Lafon Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
Served double blind alongside the Leroy 1999 Meursault Genevrieres. This was a tough wine to assess. It seemed much younger than a 1999 (I thought 2004) with some new oak elements still seemingly not integrated. Steely and powerful, slightly backward even at this age. Great density and concentration, I would think this will be better 5 years from now vs. today, probably even better yet in 10 years.

Flight 2 (2 notes)

Red
2000 Domaine Fourrier Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos St. Jacques Vieille Vigne France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
90 points
Mature and ripe black cherry aromas with some dried herb character. Very elegant and balanced with some subtle animale hints. Probably at its peak now, perhaps it might have been slightly better year or two ago, but still drinking very nicely.
Red
2001 Bernard Dugat-Py Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
88 points
concentrated black fruit aromas with plenty of toasty oak, dark chocolate, black pepper and espresso. Dense and meaty on palate with a real ripe blackberry character. Hard to believe this was from 2001, not showing much vintage character. As a matter of fact, if this were served blind I could easily have been convinced it was from the Northern Rhone.

Flight 3 (2 notes)

Red
1999 Hubert Lignier Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Aux Combottes France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
92 points
Open almost 2 hours before pouring, but not decanted. Dense black fruit aromas with subtle spice, framed with some oak hints. Dense blackberry and black cherry flavors, very meaty but also well textured. Kept getting longer and more nuanced with more time in glass.
Red
2000 Domaine Dujac Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Aux Combottes France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
flawed
Corked.
