Flight 1 (10 notes)

Red
2010 Domaine Catherine Le Goeuil Cairanne France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Cairanne
Powerful nose with some leather and licorice but this is not overwhelming. Earthy, garrigue and blackberry notes.
Very well balanced, almost restrained on the palate for Cairanne. Tannic finish. Wonderful freshness and hard to believe this is 14.5%.
BioD.
Red
2011 Domaine Chignard Fleurie Les Moriers France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Fleurie
Dark fruits, masculine for Beaujolais. Floral (violet) and quite mineral. Surprising grippy finish (vineyard on slopes towards Moulin a vent).
Very good.
Red
2010 Domaine Maestracci Vin de Corse Calvi E Prove France, Corsica, Vin de Corse Calvi
This is much more polished than the 2007 I had recently. Round with a light touch of wood (texture wise). Floral with dark fruits with some red cherry in the background. Maybe just needs a little more time to gain a little interest.
Red
2011 Ermitage du Pic St. Loup Pic St. Loup Tour de Pierres France, Languedoc Roussillon, Languedoc, Pic St. Loup
Nice fresh and every elegant nose. Quite a lot going on: strawberry, dark raspberry and blood orange. Earthy notes. Juicy.
Really good.
Red
2011 Domaine Faury Syrah Vin de Pays des Collines Rhodaniennes France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Vin de Pays des Collines Rhodaniennes
Very pretty syrah, light and fresh with red fruits. Slightly bitter tannins but very nice.
Red
2009 Domaine d'E Croce (Yves Leccia) Patrimonio E Croce France, Corsica, Patrimonio
Reduced nose, laurel and stewed strawberry but without any heaviness. Blackberry as well. Very good structure and incredible freshness for '09.
Super delicious.
Red
2009 Domaine du Joncier Lirac Les Muses France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Lirac
BioD. Mainly mourvedre (60%) with Grenache and syrah. Quite earthy with nice dark cherry and leather notes. Fresh herbs. It has a surprising freshness that I don't expect in Lirac. Reminded me of a ripe sangiovese from time to time.
Red
2011 Domaine d'Aupilhac Coteaux du Languedoc Montpeyroux Les Cocalières France, Languedoc Roussillon, Languedoc, Coteaux du Languedoc Montpeyroux
Syrah, Mourvedre and Grenache on high elevation, north-northwest. Cuve and large barrels.
Ripe fruits, a spritz of grenadine (Malabar!). A little bit creamy texture wise with again a lot of fruit (red fruits: raspberry and strawberry) on the palate but manage to stay balance and fresh once again.
Red
2010 Domaine les Pallières Gigondas Les Racines France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Gigondas
Organic, northwest orientation. 80 years old vines.
Quite austere and tight. Tannic. A touch of leather with typical Grenache fruit.
Needs time.
Red
2011 Domaine d'Aupilhac Mont Baudile Le Carignan France, Languedoc Roussillon, Languedoc, Mont Baudile
Really nice carignan. Yellow peach note with some wood wax/polish like scents. Quite tannic.

Flight 2 (6 notes)

White
2011 André et Michel Quenard Vin de Savoie Chignin France, Savoie, Vin de Savoie Chignin
Soft, mineral with a hint of honey. Round and light. Fresh lemon with a touch of licorice and melon.
Nice Jacquere.
White
2012 Meyer-Fonné Pinot Blanc Vieilles Vignes France, Alsace
Spicy with white peach notes. Gives the impression of some RS or maybe is it just the PB weight and ripeness.
OK.
White
2010 Domaine Ostertag Pinot Blanc Barriques France, Alsace
Mango nose. Very round wit an almost buttery/oily texture. Totally dry and much less exotic on the palate which is almost austere compared to the nose.
Well done.
White
2012 Château d'Epiré Savennières Cuvée Spéciale France, Loire Valley, Anjou-Saumur, Savennières
From a vineyard next to the Coulee de Serrant. 90 years old vines.
Very leesy (muscadet like), round with some old lemon skin notes. A restrained style of Savennieres.

White
2012 Domaine d'Aupilhac Coteaux du Languedoc Montpeyroux Les Cocalières France, Languedoc Roussillon, Languedoc, Coteaux du Languedoc Montpeyroux
Lots of fennel on the nose, warm grass. Unsweetened calisson with a hint of peach. Similar palate with maybe a touch of oak on the finish.
Fat and round but showing a nice energy (and only 12.5%!)
White
2010 Domaine le Sang des Cailloux Vacqueyras Un Sang Blanc France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Vacqueyras
Super fresh nose hitting you. Garrigue, honey, a little bit of almonds. Refreshing lemon and lime notes. Surprising touch of perfume as well. Chalky. This is quite complex. Full body but with some tension.
Really good.
