Flight 1 (1 note)

White - Sparkling
N.V. Pol Roger Champagne Brut Réserve France, Champagne
a 12-year old bottle. more complex than usual. hint of greeness on finish.

Flight 2 (2 notes)

Red
1971 Château Lafleur France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol
96 points
unmistakable lafleur nose of exotic kirsch and sweetness. drinking beautifully.
Red
1978 Château Lafleur France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol
95 points
more claret-like than the 71. fine balance with sweet finish. stylish.

Flight 3 (2 notes)

Red
1975 Château Lafleur France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol
93 points
decanted for an hour but still fairly restrained. a serious and a thinking man's wine, but somewhat disappointing give its price tag.

Red
1979 Château Lafleur France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol
96 points
decanted for an hour. impressive aromas that blew away the '75, with exotic notes of vanilla, mocha, coffee and mint.

Flight 4 (3 notes)

Red
1990 Château La Fleur-Pétrus France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol
95 points
decanted for 2hrs. wonderfully expressive. a little lacking in depth and length, especially compared (somewhat unfairly) to its starry neighbours in the same flight. nonetheless very enjoyable. a real outperformer.
Red
1990 Château Lafleur France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol
97 points
needed at least 15mins in glass to get going despite 2hrs in decanter. dark, rich and voluptuous, with typical '90 super ripe and jammy texture. would have been wine of night if not for the sublime Petrus in same flight.
Red
1990 Pétrus France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol
100 points
decanted for 2hrs. intoxicating to-die-for nose. rich and velvety, yet ever so graceful. words can't do this wine justice. ultimate karma sutra of wine.
