Flight 1 (2 notes)

Red
2012 Zeppelin Winery Petite Sirah USA, California, Central Coast, Paso Robles
88 points
Serving temperature: 60 F

5:45 PM CST PNP without decanting: very dark in color, very black/purple as expected with a PS with a fair amount of sediment. Simply put, this is eye candy. Nose and palate are very closed. Very silky.

Decanted and consumed over three hours from 8:00 pm - 11:00 pm:
Appearance: black/purple, inky, sediment present
Nose: still muted but opened up toward the end of the tasting. rubber.
Taste: blackberry, blueberry tartness. This wine began to open up toward the end of the tasting and it improved significantly over time. It was quite enjoyable 4 days later too. I won't open another bottle until sometime after 2015 as I think this could use a little more time in the bottle.
