nice nose, simple but refreshing rose

very dark colour, excellent nose, primary still with a lot of black currant, a little oak. very well integrated, good texture, good grip, fresh and long. The Napa 2010 cabs from the claret club producers seem to be something I could enjoy very much!
Red
2006 Corison Cabernet Sauvignon USA, California, Napa Valley
87 points
Black currants and cigar box - pleasant but much warmer fruit than the 2010 and the 2005 which were tasted side by side. Still has some grip, but the midpalate is soft and the finish short.

Distinct leather nose, the black currants I find in all Corisons wines, more freshness than the 2006, while also more age and complexity, the edges have been sandpapered down to silky texture on this one. Drinking beautifully now, not sure why you would save this for many more years unless you sit on a full case.

Fine nose, a little saddle leather varnish, pure fruit underneath of black currants and plums. Soft texture, very modern, very luxurious - at first I feel there's no structure on this wine, that it is a fruit forward version of the basic napa, then a full minute after tasting, I can sense the grip on this one in terms of the finest grain of tannins ever noticeable, but very clearly present. A well crafted wine, which bridges the divide between modern, warm blooded forward cabs and more classic and restrained cool climate versions.

Not being an expert on Napa wines, this is a great wine (and I understand that at the time, many felt this was an overall poor vintage for Napa). There's some barnyard elements, faint, some molten leaves, leather, cigar box, but still very fresh - and funky. Love this wine.
