Introduction

Theme Old Bordeaux

Thanks for your interest in our vintage Bordeaux wine dinner. Here's my proposal:

Date/Time: Nov 8th, Saturday, 7:30pm
Venue: Chez Moi (Causeway Bay)
Price: $1380 (food: $450, wine: $930)
Total no. of attendees: 9 persons (incl. myself)

I have put together a wine line-up as follows specifically for your group:

- 2001 Blanc de Lynch Bages
- 1966 Ducru Beaucaillou
- 1966 Mouton Rothschild
- 1978 Duhart Milon Rothschild
- 1978 Domaine de Chevalier (Rouge)
- 1983 Leoville-Poyferre
- 1986 Clerc Milon Rothschild

We will kick off the dinner with a simple white wine from Lynch Bages. We will then focus on red Bordeaux of good vintages from the 60s, 70s and 80s. The highlight would be the comparison of Mouton vs. Ducru Beaucaillou from 1966. I personally tried the 1966 Ducru and it tasted fresh, just like something from the mid 80s. I am eagerly looking forward to try Mouton from this same legendary vintage.

Flight 1 (8 notes)

Started of with pan fried goose liver
then a cream of clam soup.
Prime Angus Sirloin steak
Dessert.

Very light color. Not as fresh as I would like it. Hence it wasn't the acid I was looking for. It felt a little flat to me.
Red

Very good nose of earth cigar. Medium acid with very fine integrated tannins. Medium body very smooth. Medium body.

Medium shoulder. On the first taste on the nose it had a funky smell with some cheesy nose and lots of earth. Gradually the cheese went away. Good well balance acid. Very easy to drink. Typical mouton. Medium acid and fine tannin. Medium body. Very good.
