Introduction

We had dinner in Princeton at Ali and Adele's, with Keren and Mark, Paul and Karen and lots of kids.

Flight 1 (4 notes)

White
2014 Nobilo Sauvignon Blanc Icon New Zealand, South Island, Marlborough
88 points
Tasty wine. Crisp acidity and good fruit flavors of lime, grapefruit and papaya. At Adele & Ali's
Red
2010 Château Les Grands Maréchaux France, Bordeaux, Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux
90 points
At Ali and Adela's: delicious wine. Good cherry fruit, cassis and lots of spice on the finish. Won't make old bones but drinking great now. Especially good with the duck pate with foie gras, but also with the chicken dish with saffron and rice, and the delicious Persian rice!
Was very popular: Ali kept on having to open more bottles of this! Good QPR for $16-$17.
Red
2005 Château Haut-Gardère France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan
91 points
At Ali & Adele's House (Princeton): This was decanted when we arrived -- and drank best 4 hours later. Was very tight for 2+ hours, then some lovely notes of cherry, stone, lead pencil and a little tobacco on the finish.
Best with the duck pate (with foie gras). Delicious on its own but tighter than it should be. These need 2-3 more years, I think, to drink well. Not as showy as the 2003 vintage (2-3 years ago) but lots of potential. HOLD.
Red
2010 Château Greysac France, Bordeaux, Médoc
86 points
This bottle didn't drink great. Some fruit flavors but thin vs. the others. (Perhaps unfair). Not sure if this needs another year of bottle age, or not. At Ali & Adele's.
