Flight 1 (7 notes)

Rosé
2014 Domaine de la Mordorée La Remise Rosé France, Vin de France
Deep pink; sweet strawberry, Double Bubble chewing gum; nice mouthfeel, enough acid; in between a Cotes de Provence rosé and Tavel; very tasty.
Red
2013 Domaine de la Mordorée La Remise Rouge France, Vin de France
Darker color; peanuts on the nose along with dark fruit; cedar, leather, dark fruit continues, enough acid and freshness though a little less drinkability than I like.
Red
2010 Camerano Barolo Terlo Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo
Young, sweet candied fruit on the nose, slight cinnamon, still a bit reduced, strawberry, light cherry, watermelon; palate is pent up and youthful, red fruit, lighter, reductive, with air the cinnamon came out a bit and Nebbiolo character came out; give this some time.
Red
2012 Domaine Raymond Usseglio & Fils Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Impériale France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Dark maroon with bright garnet rim; smoky, raspberry, gingerbread, garrigue, floral, deep, sexy; layers of Grenache fruit, sweet, restrained ripeness though larger scaled, bitter finish, garrigue, sour cherry, plush texture; like the nobility coming through on this young CdP.
Red
2011 Nicolas Rossignol Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Mouches France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Beaune 1er Cru
Ruby core with pink rim, see through; young, smoky, sweet sour cherry, round, rich, plump; firm acid, young, sweet cherry, vanilla, fuller, fleshy, silky tannin; very similar to JD rouge CdM.

White
2009 Weingut Hirsch Riesling Zöbinger Heiligenstein Austria, Niederösterreich, Kamptal
Light yellow; slight honey, very spicy dusty mineral, lemon, and a little lime, also floral; firm palate, solid, high acid, honeysuckle, lemon, golden apple, strong mineral, long, noble, no longer the shrillness of young Riesling this had nice fat to it; very good.

Red
2011 Benjamin Leroux Bourgogne France, Burgundy, Bourgogne
Ruby core with pale rim; bright red and slight dark fruit, sour dark cherry, limestone; nice persistency, some tannin, dark cherry, good depth; solid.

Closing

Loved the Riesling, but the Usseglio was really impressive. Like the 2012s for their restrained fruit. Normally I get lots of blue fruit from young R. Usseglio.
