White - Sparkling
N.V. Richard Royer Champagne Brut Caractère Blanc de Noirs France, Champagne
90 points
From a biodynamic grower in Balnot-sur-Laignes, 100% Pinot Noir. Supple, juicy, fruity and forward, soft and ripe but not lacking freshness, nice spicy depth, pure, a lovely representation of the Cóte des Bar, red apple and melon on the finish, good length.
White
2011 Weingut Clemens Busch Marienburg Fahrlay Riesling Großes Gewächs Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer
92 points
Playful, firm and spicy mineral core, herbs, lovely sweetness from the ripe fruit, juicy acidity is perhaps slightly soft, very individual, very Marienburg, lovely tension, light but intense, dances across the palate, finishes with a veritable fruit basket, very good length. Stylish but slightly low in energy.
Red
2011 Josten & Klein Mayschosser Mönchberg Pinot Noir Germany, Ahr
90 points
Very aromatic nose, oak spice, red berries, spicy slate, sous-bois, good depth; the palate is fresh and elegant on the one hand, but quite sweet, lactic and caramelly on the other, light oak tannins provide nice grip, rounded and ripe, some tension but lacks precision and definition; good aromatic persistence on the finish, good length.
