Introduction

We had the wine cellar to ourselves. While the service was slow, the food and wines were splendid.

Flight 1 - First couse (1 note)

We shared: Kobe meatballs in red sauce, Diver scallops & shrimp in a spicy pepper sauce, Buffala mozzarella & tomato salad, Asian tuna bites with wasabi aioli.

Rosé
2014 Alfredo Maestro Vino de la Tierra de Castilla y León Amanda Rosado de Lágrima Spain, Castilla y León, Vino de la Tierra de Castilla y León
Such a fun and delicious wine. As deep a color as a rosé can be without being red. But there is no mistaking its aromas and flavors. Luscious and tingly red berries. Deep and rather full bodied. Paired well with a wide range of foods and even tolerated some spicy heat.

Flight 2 - Main (1 note)

Grilled Berkshire pork chop with Apple Dijon mustard sauce & polenta rings. Also tasted some 30-day prime aged ribeye & veal chop in mushroom jus.

Red
1997 Castello di Monsanto Chianti Classico Riserva Il Poggio Italy, Tuscany, Chianti, Chianti Classico DOCG
Decanted an hour before. Initially dynamic and intense aromatics mixing fruit, spices and florals. Then this seem to retreat into far more tertiary earth and tar. Yet is seems more like it closed down than being too advanced. Still very impressive.
