Scarborough Tasting

Botanical Gardens, Sydney

Tasted October 9, 2015 by chatters with 141 views

Introduction

little Scarborough tasting at the park with some rather scrumptious cheeses - positively French! Brief notes as was standing up in a paddock, effectively balancing wine, cheese and tiny tasting notes. Format is nose, ellipsis, palate

Flight 1 (10 notes)

White
2013 Scarborough Wine Co Sémillon White Label Australia, New South Wales, Hunter Valley
Apple and lemon…lemon and lime and quite broad on the palate. Pleasant
White
2015 Scarborough Wine Co Sémillon Green Label Australia, New South Wales, Hunter Valley
Green apple and slightly unripe passion fruit…green apple, chalky mid palate and quite short. Meh.
White
2014 Scarborough Wine Co Chardonnay Blue Label Australia, New South Wales, Hunter Valley
Slight citrus, muted nose…spicy, grippy, mid palate. Meh.
White
2012 Scarborough Wine Co Chardonnay Yellow Label Australia, New South Wales, Hunter Valley
Butter, cream over citrus….butter cream with lemon over peach, slight spice. Medium length. Hmm.
White
2013 Scarborough Wine Co Chardonnay The Obsessive Gillards Road Vineyard Australia, New South Wales, Hunter Valley
Lemon, peach, butter, spice, cream, rich but slightly out of whack.
White
2009 Scarborough Wine Co Chardonnay White Label Australia, New South Wales, Hunter Valley
Toast, honey, butter, spice…more of same on palate, not tired as still quite fresh but lacks fruit for me.
Rosé
2014 Scarborough Wine Co Pinot Noir Rosé Australia, New South Wales, Hunter Valley
Confected strawberry on nose and palate, a bit short but pleasant enough
Red
N.V. Scarborough Wine Co Pinot Noir Non Vintage Australia, New South Wales, Hunter Valley
leather, autumn leaf, mushrooms, muted fruit, slight spice and earth. Hmm.
Red
2011 Scarborough Wine Co Shiraz Black Label Australia, New South Wales, Hunter Valley
Plum, leather, slightly reductive…plum, slight sour, bit wet and indifferent
Red
2011 Scarborough Wine Co Shiraz White Label Australia, New South Wales, Hunter Valley
Spicy, thick, plums and prunes…more of the same on the palate, dense but fine textured and integrated tannin. Nice.

Closing

A very pleasant time. Wines are, for the most part, pleasant enough but nothing super exciting that sets me on fire. The White Label Shiraz was good but probably a bit expensive at $60 a bottle.
