Drinking wonderfully right now. Really gorgeous and balanced. Drank from a magnum and every glass got better over time, especially the last sips after a couple hours of air and getting closer to room temp.

Nice but not particularly interesting. Citrus overwhelms everything else, and it's a bit too sweet for my liking. Maybe with some more age this would get to a more interesting place. (Drank from a magnum.)

Flight 2 (4 notes)

Red
2006 Emmanuel Rouget Savigny-lès-Beaune France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Savigny-lès-Beaune
93 points
Almost couldn't get past the pungent nose on this which smelled like green olives and gasoline. But I'm really glad I did, because the juice was actually smooth and balanced and wonderful--not at all what the aromatics indicated. (Drank from a magnum.)
Red
2012 Domaine J. Chamonard Morgon Le Clos de Lys France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Morgon
89 points
Not sure if this wine is just closed down right now, but it gives very little on the nose or palette. Quiet, delicate flavors. Okay on its own or perhaps would be good with fish. Can't really stand up to much more than that.
Red
2011 Jean Foillard Morgon Côte du Py France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Morgon
93 points
Great barnyard earthy smells and flavors. Funky and delicious. (Drank from a magnum.)

Corked!

Flight 3 (2 notes)

Red
2012 Domaine Jamet Syrah Vin de Pays des Collines Rhodaniennes France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Vin de Pays des Collines Rhodaniennes
93 points
So much lighter than the Jamet I'm used to (the Cote-Rotie) but really nice bottle. Light on its feet but could still hold up to barbecue meat. Would be perfect red to serve with barbecue on a hot summer afternoon. Still has time left.
Red
2005 Alban Vineyards Syrah Reva Alban Estate Vineyard USA, California, Central Coast, Edna Valley
97 points
This bottle is singing right now. Drank it alongside several wonderful, but much more delicate French burgs, and this was a powerhouse! Big flavors abound. Really an incredible expression of Cali Syrah from Edna Valley. Paired it with barbecue meats and it was exactly the right balance. Awesome bottle and drinking perfectly right now. (Drank from a magnum.)
