Introduction

2005 van Volxem Wiltinger Gottesfuß Alte Reben. Pale green, aroma of almonds, tobacco; energetic, almost halbtrocken style. Rich peach, dry straw, impression of artificial fruits and wood resin.

2005 van Volxem Scharzhofberger Auslese Very rich with a vein of peach; a bigger wine than expected; spicy on tongue tip.

2005 Carbonnieux blanc. Redcurrant and sappy apple flavors; citric energy and good balance; Needs 2-3 more years in cellar.

2005 Howie Hart Niagara on the Lake Chardonnay. Somewhat neutral fruit with a hint of oak. Very nice.

2000 Ch. La Tour Figeac (St. Emilion). Spicy, rich, plummy, with Nicene olives, fine tannins, very nice.

1985 Ch. Cos D'Estournel, Anise, leather, firm, energetic cherry, youngish tannins. 89/100

1975 Friedrich Baumann Oppenheimer Sacktrager. Red-orange; beautiful spice (horehound); good balance.

1990 Ch. Pichon Comtesse (Pauillac). Still very immature; showing dense rich fruit, dried pepper.

1983 Zilliken Saarburger Rausch Goldkap Auslese. Orange green, smoky sweet, very closed. Needs more work to bring out its best, but time becons....

2000 Chateau Figeac--still monolithic and unevaluable without plenty of work--impression of spiced plums and plenty of potential.
