White
2009 Quinta da Muradella Monterrei Crianza Oxidativa Spain, Galicia, Monterrei
85 points
Leesy, oaky, actually can't feel the effect of the 9m under veil. Citrussy apple on the palate. Medium body. Some said that by its leesy character it reminded them of a leesy youngish Meursault. I didn't find this to be particularly interesting.
White
1999 Michel Issaly Domaine de la Ramaye Gaillac Le Vin de l'Oubli France, Southwest France, Gaillac
92 points
Quite fruity, more like an orange wine than Vin Jaune. There's peach, small yellow plums - overall intense and clean nose. It feels that there's almost some tannin on the palate and it has a lovely creaminess to it. Lots of oomph to this wine. Complex, enticing. Jam of small yellow plums on the nose and palate. Excellent wine.
White
1990 Château Persanges Arbois Vin Jaune France, Jura, Arbois
87 points
This was a very typical Vin Jaune in its intense, dry pungent nose of old cheese, metallic and vinegar notes. Was better with food, but on its own wasn't as enjoyable. On the other hand - we didn't decant it, PnP clearly doesn't work with these wines.
White
2004 Dominique Andiran Vin de France Les Pissenlits France, Vin de France
91 points
Licorice, pharmacy and sweet vanilla on the nose. Lovely sweet fruits. Rather dense and complex nose and palate. Alcohol can be felt on the finish. A big wine and again more orange than Vin Jaune type.
White - Fortified
N.V. Emilio Hidalgo Fino Especial "La Panesa" Spain, Andalucía, Jerez-Xérès-Sherry
91 points
Fresh warm milk, canned meat and buttermilk on the nose. Rather complex, mild milky body. Much more tender than the rest of the wines in the line up.
