90 points
Ultra-rare bottle! Drank from bottle over 2+ hours.
Appearance is clear, medium intensity, ruby colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of toasty grilled bell peppers, herbs, Chinese Dangui, earth, ripe red cherries. Youthful.
On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium+ alcohol (14.5%), silky fine high tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of sweet spice, grilled herbs, earth, ripe red cherries, fresh red plums, leather, toast and smoke. Long finish.
Very good quality. Defined by its finesse and freshness. Just a right touch of Cabernet varietal herbaceousness, with an elegant red fruited expression. Good stuff coming out China. Supposedly the best wine from the country.
Cabernet Sauvignon 80%, Merlot 15% Cabernet Gernischt 5%.
Rosé
2014 Chêne Bleu Rosé France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Vaucluse
91 points
Screw-cap. Pop and poured. Drank over 2+ hours.
Appearance is clear, pale intensity, salmon pink colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium intensity, with aromas of strawberry and red cherry. Youthful.
On the palate is where this Rose shines. Sensation of almost off-dry (although residual sugar is only 1.9 g/l!), high acidity, medium alcohol /913%), medium+ body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of sweet strawberry cream, red cherries, citrus orange peel, grapefruit, some peppery spice, and a thin layer of saline minerality enveloping all that fruit. Long finish.
Very good quality Rose. Good concentration. More structured than the usual Provencal Roses. Drink fresh.
60% Grenache, 35% Syrah, 5% Cinsault.
Red
2007 Cascina Bruni Barolo Vigna Batistot Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo

Tasted blind. Poured into decanter and drank over 2+ hours.
Appearance is clear, pale intensity, ruby colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium intensity, initially very tight showing only woody spice, with an hour of air in the decanter revealing floral roses, earth, red cherries. Developing.
on the palate, dry, high acidity, medium+ alcohol (14%), grippy high tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of sweet red cherries, ripe strawberry, sweet spice, roses, tea leaves, slight earth. Hints of mushroom. Long finish.
Very good quality. Elegant Nebbiolo. I was guessing a 10 year old Barbaresco. Surprised that this turned out to be a Barolo Riserva from Serralunga! My guess is that the usage of neutral chestnut oak barrels by this maker allows for a greater interchange of oxygen with the wine, softening it and making it more approachable younger. Not the usual dark and fiercely tannic Serralunga beasts I used to know.

Tasted blind. Pop and poured. Drank from bottle over 2+ hours.
Appearance is clear, deep intensity, ruby colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of vanilla cream, coconut, chocolate, black fruits. Developing.
On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium+ alcohol (14.5%), grippy high tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of vanilla cream, sweet grilled herbs, chocolate, black cherries, blackberries, black plums. Long finish.
Very good quality. Appealing to the modern palate. I was guessing that this was a heavily made-up oaky SuperTuscan. Needs another 5+ years to soften up.
Objectively a very good wine, but I am inclined to mark this down as there seems to be no expression of place at all and the oak usage is so heavy-handed. Well, at least the style is consistent - the 1998 vintage of this I tried was just as "impressively" oaked. If you are looking for terroir, look elsewhere.
Mainly Cannonau (Grenache), with the remainder being Carignan, Malvasia Nero, and Bovale Sardo.
