Red
1988 Luis Pato Bairrada Vinhas Velhas Portugal, Beiras, Bairrada

Consistent with my previous TN. Still very youthful colour of a younger Cabernet. Nose of aronia and black cherries as well as spices, jamon and meat notes. Very high acidity, even tartness. Tannin is present here, goes well with food.

1998 Luis Pato Baga Vinho Regional Beiras Quinta do Moinho Portugal, Beiras, Vinho Regional Beiras

Fruity, spicy but also edgy. Lean structure of a N.Rhone Syrah, but lighter body. Sinewy.
Red
1999 Quinta de Pancas Premium Portugal, Lisboa, Vinho Regional Lisboa

Soft, juicy, fruity international styled wine. There's cinnamon, Christmas spices, peppermint, also some plasticine that doesn't go away. Syrah fom the blend is rather prevalent. Very spicy. Very long and spicy finish. A bit brutish at the moment. No typicity either.
Red
2007 Prats and Symington Douro Chryseia Portugal, Douro
91 points
Ripe fruit and vanilla, rather jammy bouquet. Merlot fruits with low acidity but also rather restrained, not plush or unfocused. Very long in the mouth, also a bit drying, pruny finish. Warm and cosy wine.
Red
2007 Niepoort Douro Charme Amadeus Portugal, Douro
84 points
Jammy and plush. NW Pinot Noir - in your face strawberry vanilla ice-cream. Very warm and overdone for my liking. Others loved this but I wasn't so impressed.
Red
2013 Quinta do Vale Meão Douro Portugal, Douro
89 points
Warm, bites your nose as you smell it, low acidity. Metallic but also with wood notes and dust. Milk chocolate on the palate. Finish ff dried fruits. Young, but good.

Classic Douro style. Beautiful floral and lavender bouquet as well as buttery popcorn. Juicy and fruity. Excellent balance. The real deal.
