Rosé - Sparkling
2008 Veuve Clicquot Champagne Brut Rosé Vintage France, Champagne
92 points
Quite a substantial colour, more peach than salmon; the nose is quite discreet at present, spicy and minerally, with hints of peach and strawberry and a savoury aspect; the palate has the unmistakeable tightness and minerality of 2008, but it seems to have the weight of fruit to age and find a balance with the acidity in 3-5 years' time, silky texture, gentle mousse; light finish, good length. Drink 2020-2028.

White - Sweet/Dessert
N.V. Fratelli Muratori GIARDINI ARIMEI PASSITO SECCO Campania IGT Italy, Campania, Campania IGT
90 points
An off-dry dessert wine from the island of Ischia, made with Biancolella 40%, Forastera 30%, Uva Rilla 10% , San Lunardo 10% and Coglionara 10%, 18 months in oak, 6 months in bottle, 14% ABV. Medium amber golden colour; very aromatic nose of peach, bitter orange and warm spice, floral lift, good depth; the palate is rich and full but drier than the nose would suggest, with refreshing acidity; perfumed finish, good length.
Red
2012 Nova Wines Marilyn Merlot USA, California, Napa Valley
88 points
Ripe fruit of plums and black cherries, spicy new oak, hint of vanilla, good depth, fruit forward and bit hot; flavoursome palate, a bit foursquare, nice and spicy, fresh enough but the tannins are rather rough; creamy finish, good length.
