All wines tasted blind - initially straight as a pop n pour and then after 5 hours

Flight 1 (6 notes)

Red
2012 Adobe Road Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Georges III Vineyard Napa Valley USA, California, Napa Valley
92 points
Came into its own 92 over time. Initially it just made 89.

Fruitier on the nose - became integrated nicely over the hour.

Light strawberry on the nose and on the palate.

Medium heavy tannins and body with a moderate finish

Red
2009 Witchery Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville USA, California, Napa Valley, Oakville
92 points
Hint of brick around the edges.

Nose evolves over the course of a few minutes. Initial attack is gunpowder and young. It evolves beautifully over 5 minutes into newly cut neutral dry wood and a hint of

Rounded tannins and body with a lingering finish.

Red
2012 Witchery Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville USA, California, Napa Valley, Oakville
90 points
Heavier than the 2009

Initial nose attack is the same as 2009 Nose changes to mushroom Dark red ruby in color.

On the palate this is youthful and the acidity comes through in the finish. Not yet at its peak - and just does not seem to come up to the 09 or 11.

Red
2013 Witchery Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville USA, California, Napa Valley, Oakville
88 points
Touch of anise - Heavy tannins

Less nose than the adobe and the 2012.

Acetone and tobacco on the nose. Lots of tobacco.. Very young (Younger than 2012)

Body looks a little thin

Acidity comes through in the finish - not yet integrated.

Red
2011 Witchery Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville USA, California, Napa Valley, Oakville
93 points
Initial rating with the Pop and pour was 90

A french dirty cellar nose that dissipates quickly within 30 secs - it does not last thankfully. Quite green in the finish too.

The 93 rating was with a long decant. The greenery goes and it becomes integrated with a chocolate backend - quite a different wine with the decant of 5 to 7 hours.

N2 HL4 FD4 T7 F6.5

Light dust on the nose
Red
2010 O'Shaughnessy Cabernet Sauvignon Mt. Veeder USA, California, Napa Valley, Mt. Veeder
94 points
This was very interesting and confusing. After an hour decant, it was clear to me that this should not be decanted. It was better straight from the bottle. After a 5 hour decant my view changed again totally and it was clear the decant made a beautiful wine. The rating above is for the 5 hour decant. My initial rating was 92 pnp.

In the initial hour decant, the tomato comes through too strongly.

N 6 HL7 FD4 T7 F6

Light woody nose and dark soil.
