Flight 1 - Oysters, Tasmania and Fanny Bay (2 notes)

White
2010 Vins del Massís Catalunya Macizo Spain, Catalunya
90 points
Tasted very strong at first, then started to open up, more like a Meursault.
White
2011 Benjamin Romeo Rioja Que Bonito Cacareaba Spain, La Rioja, Rioja
92 points
Tasted like a white burgundy, elegant and buttery.

Flight 2 - Center-cut Ribeye (5 notes)

Red
2009 Bodegas Benjamin de Rothschild & Vega Sicilia Rioja Macan Spain, La Rioja, La Rioja Alta, Rioja
93 points
Powerful and fresh, like it very much.
Red
2008 Benjamin Romeo Rioja La Cueva del Contador Spain, La Rioja, Rioja
91 points
Second encounter. Dark fruits; while enjoyable, a notch below the 2003 unico and 2009 Macan.
Red
2008 Mas Doix Priorat Costers de Vinyes Velles Spain, Catalunya, Priorat
Least memorable of the 5 wines tasted--2009 Macan, 2008 La Cueva del Contador, 2004 Castillo Ygay Gran Reserva, and 2003 Unico
Red
2003 Bodegas Vega-Sicilia Ribera del Duero Único Spain, Castilla y León, Ribera del Duero
95 points
Powerful and full-body.

Very Bordeaux like, OK.

Closing

Great steak and good ambiance. Enjoyed both whites; the Rioja white more. Among the reds, the 2003 Vega Sicilia and the 2009 Macan stands out among the others.
