Introduction

Had some friends for a wine and tapas evening.

We consumed as well some bottles of entry level Rioja Crianca and Alvarinho, and for reasons of refreshing the palate some reference beers!

The Barreiro family served a whole range of tapas, as there are pimientos, chuletas del cordero, razo, boquerones fritos, potaje de judias, mariscos en salsa de tomate, jamon serrano, gambas al diabla, albondigas, espinaca con pazas y pinon, tortilla y al final postre.
Sure, I forgot something!

As always spanish wine and spanish dishes are a perfect pairing!

Two Magnums, same taste: still very tight, young, acid and mineralic driven, graphite, savoury concentrated blackberry, perfect with tapas, long nearly gentle aftertaste, can be enjoyed now but will benefit from some 5+ years in the cellar, ***(*), 91+ potential

Two Magnums, same taste: fresh, red cassis, very elegant, still slightly muted, opens up a bit, good pairing with tapas, long finish, needs more time, lets say 5+ years, especially from MG, *(**+- ?), aroung 89- 90+ potential

2013 4 Kilos Vi de La Tierra Mallorca 4 Kilos Spain, Balearic Islands, Vi de La Tierra Mallorca
Two Magnums, same taste: compared to the prior served 2014 vintage this one is more about finesse, velvety swallowing, red berrys though, light to midbodied spicy mineralic on the midpalate, very long and elegant aftertaste, again good pairing with tapas, give this vintage some 3+ years more in your cellar, **(**), 90-?

Two Magnums, same taste: first of all right after opening, too young, we are commiting infanticide, very tight, compote, sweet intense compote, opens up after one+ hour, complex, vanilla, montecristo no.2, 4, 5, I do not know, a stunning persistent finish, a mouthfull of delicious Rioja Reserva! Needs at least 5- 10 years more in MG! Highly recommended! **(**+-?), 92+ potential

Only one Magnum! This vintage is a cuvee of 60% Callet, 30% Cab S and 10% Syrah, the 2013 bottles are made of 90% Callet and 10% Manto Negro, the 2014 vintage is made of 100% Callet, so these are quite different, here there is clearly CS on the palate, lots of cassis, very rich with a tangy smell on the nose, power and energy it is all about, ending long+ delicious, enjoy now, but still a lot of life ahead, especially from MG, ***(*), 90- 91
